1907Central American Court of Justice establishedWashington conference creates regional tribunal to settle disputesDelegates from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica signed conventions in Washington in December 1907 creating the Central American Court of Justice, the first permanent international court. The court, seated in Cartago, Costa Rica, was meant to peacefully resolve disputes among the five republics. It operated until 1918.
