1907Anglo-Russian Convention signedBritain and Russia divide spheres of influence in Asia, forming the Triple EntenteThe agreement settled long-standing rivalry between the British and Russian empires by dividing Persia, Afghanistan, and Tibet into spheres of influence. Combined with earlier Anglo-French and Franco-Russian alliances, it completed the Triple Entente that would face the Central Powers in the First World War. It was signed in Saint Petersburg on 31 August 1907.
