1905Wright brothers fly the first practical airplaneWright Flyer III completes sustained, controlled flightOrville and Wilbur Wright flew their Wright Flyer III near Dayton, Ohio, achieving a flight that remained airborne for 39 minutes and covered more than 24 miles under full pilot control. The aircraft is considered the first truly practical airplane, capable of banking, turning, and circling reliably. It built directly on their pioneering 1903 flights at Kitty Hawk.
