1904 – 1988Frederick Ashton (1904-1988)Died 18 August 1988, aged 83Frederick Ashton was a British choreographer and founding figure of the Royal Ballet, where he served as director for over a decade. He created dozens of ballets, including Cinderella and La Fille mal gardee. He is regarded as one of the most influential choreographers of 20th-century British ballet.
