1897Publication of DraculaBram Stoker's gothic novel establishes the modern vampire mythBram Stoker's novel Dracula was published in London on 26 May 1897, telling the story of Count Dracula's attempt to spread the undead curse from Transylvania to England. The book drew on earlier vampire folklore and fiction to create the most influential vampire story in modern literature. It has never been out of print since.
