His work spanned painting, sculpture, and ceramics over a career of more than six decades. He is considered one of the twentieth century's most important artists.
1893 – 1981Harold Urey (1893-1981)Died 5 January 1981, aged 87American chemist Harold Urey, who won the 1934 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering deuterium, died in La Jolla, California, on 5 January 1981. He also contributed to the Manhattan Project and later pioneered research into the chemical origins of life. His work with student Stanley Miller produced the influential Miller-Urey experiment.
