1892Populist Party adopts the Omaha PlatformUS third party formalizes agrarian and labor reform agendaDelegates of the newly formed People's Party, known as the Populists, met in Omaha, Nebraska and adopted a platform calling for the free coinage of silver, a graduated income tax, and public ownership of railroads. The party went on to win over a million votes in that year's presidential election.
