1883Karl Marx dies in LondonDied at his desk, still working on Das KapitalKarl Marx died on March 14, 1883, in London at the age of 64, reportedly found by his housekeeper slumped in his armchair, having continued to work on the unfinished later volumes of "Das Kapital" until close to the end. He was buried at Highgate Cemetery in London. Only a handful of people attended the funeral, but Engels' graveside eulogy declared that Marx had been, above all, "a revolutionist" whose ideas would outlive him.
