1880International fleet forces Ottoman cession of UlcinjGreat power warships end the Dulcigno crisisA combined European naval squadron gathered off the Adriatic coast in autumn 1880 to pressure the Ottoman Empire into honoring the Congress of Berlin's border award to Montenegro. The Ottoman government ceded the port of Ulcinj (Dulcigno) to Montenegro on 26 November 1880 rather than face bombardment. It was one of the first uses of coordinated great-power naval coercion to enforce a treaty.
