1868Spanish Revolution of 1868Uprising overthrows Queen Isabella IIA coalition of liberal generals and admirals launched an uprising known as "La Gloriosa," defeating loyalist forces and forcing Queen Isabella II to flee to France. The revolution ended Bourbon rule and opened a period of political experimentation that led to a short-lived republic. It began a six-year period of instability known as the Sexenio Democratico.
