1850Punctation of OlmutzPrussia backs down to Austria over leadership of GermanyUnder Austrian and Russian pressure, Prussia abandoned its plan for a Prussian-led Erfurt Union of German states. The agreement, signed at Olmutz, restored the old Austrian-dominated German Confederation. The humiliation fueled Prussian resentment that later shaped Bismarck's push for unification under Prussia.
