1834US Senate Censures President Andrew JacksonCensure over removal of federal deposits from the Bank of the United StatesThe United States Senate voted to censure President Andrew Jackson for removing federal deposits from the Bank of the United States without congressional authorization. It was the first, and at the time only, censure of a sitting American president. The Senate expunged the censure from its records three years later after Jackson's allies regained a majority.
