1772 – 1833Ram Mohan Roy (1772-1833)Died 27 September 1833, aged 61Ram Mohan Roy was an Indian religious and social reformer who founded the Brahmo Sabha, a movement for monotheistic reform of Hinduism that opposed practices such as sati. He campaigned for modern education and social reform in Bengal and is often called the father of the Indian Renaissance. He died in Bristol, England, during a visit to advocate for reform before British authorities.
