1818Congress of Aix-la-ChapelleQuintuple Alliance meets to settle post-Napoleonic EuropeRepresentatives of Britain, Austria, Prussia, Russia, and France met at Aachen to arrange the withdrawal of allied occupation troops from France and to discuss France's readmission to the concert of European powers. The congress marked France's formal return to great-power diplomacy after Napoleon's defeat. It was one of a series of congresses held under the Concert of Europe system.
