1735 – 1818Paul Revere (1735-1818)Died 10 May 1818, aged 83Paul Revere was an American silversmith and patriot famed for his 1775 ride to warn colonial militia of approaching British troops. After the Revolution he became a successful industrialist, pioneering copper rolling and bronze casting in the United States. His 1818 death came decades before Longfellow's poem made his ride a national legend.
