1733 – 1813Christoph Martin Wieland (1733-1813)Died 20 January 1813, aged 79Wieland was a German poet and writer regarded as one of the leading figures of Weimar Classicism alongside Goethe, Schiller and Herder. His works, including the novel Agathon, were influential in shaping modern German prose. He also founded and edited the literary journal Der Teutsche Merkur.
