1808Humphry Davy Isolates Alkaline Earth MetalsElectrolysis yields calcium, barium, strontium, and magnesiumHumphry Davy reported to the Royal Society that he had isolated the previously unknown metals calcium, strontium, barium, and magnesium through electrolysis of their compounds. The discoveries extended the chemical techniques he had used in 1807 to isolate potassium and sodium.
