• 1805 First Barbary War ends United States signs peace with Tripoli On 10 June 1805, the United States and the Pashalik of Tripoli signed a treaty ending the First Barbary War. The agreement followed a US-backed land campaign that captured Derna and ransomed American prisoners held since the capture of USS Philadelphia. It marked an early American military intervention outside the Western Hemisphere.
