He established his capital at Hue and founded the Nguyễn dynasty, which would rule Vietnam until 1945.
1802Toussaint Louverture captured by French forcesFrench expedition seizes the Haitian revolutionary leaderGeneral Jean-Baptiste Brunet lured Toussaint Louverture into a meeting and arrested him on 7 June 1802 as part of Napoleon Bonaparte's expedition to reassert French control over Saint-Domingue. Louverture was deported to France and imprisoned in the Jura mountains. His capture failed to end the uprising, which continued toward Haitian independence in 1804.
