1801Battle of CopenhagenNelson attacks the Danish fleet to break the Armed NeutralityOn 2 April 1801 a British fleet under Admiral Hyde Parker and Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson attacked the Danish-Norwegian fleet anchored off Copenhagen. Nelson famously disregarded a signal to withdraw and pressed the attack until Denmark agreed to a truce. The battle broke the League of Armed Neutrality that had threatened British trade.
