He also served as a tax collector for the royal government, which made him a target during the Revolution. He was guillotined despite appeals citing his scientific contributions.
1764 – 1794Madame Elisabeth of France (1764-1794)Died 10 May 1794, aged 30Younger sister of King Louis XVI who chose to remain with the royal family during the Revolution rather than flee into exile. She was imprisoned with them in the Temple and later the Conciergerie. She was guillotined after a brief trial on fabricated charges.
