1782Gnadenhutten MassacrePennsylvania militia kill unarmed Christian LenapePennsylvania militiamen rounded up and killed roughly ninety-six unarmed Christian Lenape at the Moravian mission village of Gnadenhutten in Ohio. The victims, mostly converts who had taken no part in the war, were bludgeoned to death after being falsely accused of raiding frontier settlements. The massacre provoked outrage and intensified frontier violence between settlers and Native Americans.
