1714 – 1763William Shenstone (1714-1763)Died 11 February 1763, aged 48William Shenstone was an English poet and landscape gardener celebrated for the ornamental garden he created at his estate, the Leasowes. His poetry and essays on landscape design influenced the development of the English landscape garden movement. He never married and devoted much of his income to his garden.
