1762British Forces Capture HavanaSiege ends Spanish control of Cuba's capitalA British expeditionary force landed near Havana in June 1762 and besieged the city for two months during the Seven Years' War. Havana surrendered on 13 August 1762, giving Britain control of a major Spanish naval base and trading port. The city was returned to Spain the following year in exchange for Florida.
