• 1727 – 1759 James Wolfe (1727-1759) Died 13 September 1759, aged 32 British general who commanded the forces that defeated the French at the Battle of Quebec. He was shot three times during the battle and died on the field as his troops secured victory. His death was later immortalized in Benjamin West's painting The Death of General Wolfe.
• 1759 Battle of Quebec Decisive British victory on the Plains of Abraham British forces under General James Wolfe defeated the French army of the Marquis de Montcalm outside Quebec City on 13 September 1759. Both commanding generals were mortally wounded during the fighting. The city surrendered days later, paving the way for the British conquest of New France.
