• 1750 Series of Earthquakes Strikes London Two tremors spark fears of a foretold third London experienced two earthquakes a month apart, on 8 February and 8 March 1750, causing panic but little serious damage. A widely circulated prophecy predicted a devastating third earthquake on 5 April, prompting many residents to flee the city. No such earthquake occurred.
