1633 – 1701James II of England (1633-1701)Died 16 September 1701, aged 67James II, the deposed Catholic King of England, Scotland, and Ireland, died in exile at Saint-Germain-en-Laye in France. He had been overthrown in the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and spent his final years under the protection of Louis XIV. His death renewed Jacobite hopes centered on his son, James Francis Edward Stuart.
