1701Society for the Propagation of the Gospel foundedChurch of England missionary society chartered to serve the coloniesKing William III granted a royal charter to the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts, an Anglican missionary organization. The society sent clergy to British colonies in North America and the Caribbean. It became one of the most influential English missionary bodies of the eighteenth century.
