1695Siege of NamurAllied forces recapture the fortress city from FranceDuring the Nine Years' War, an Allied army led by William III besieged and retook the strategic fortress of Namur from French forces, reversing France's capture of the city in 1692. The siege was one of the largest and most costly operations of the war, involving extensive artillery bombardment directed by military engineers on both sides. Its fall was celebrated across the Grand Alliance as a major propaganda victory for William III.
