1613 – 1662Henry Vane the Younger (1613-1662)Died 14 June 1662, aged 49Vane was an English statesman who served as a colonial governor of Massachusetts Bay and later as a leading Parliamentarian during the English Civil War. Excluded from the general pardon granted at the Restoration, he was tried for treason and beheaded on Tower Hill. His execution was widely seen as politically motivated given his refusal to take part in the king's trial.
