1645Battle of NasebyDecisive Parliamentarian victory in the English Civil WarThe New Model Army under Oliver Cromwell and Sir Thomas Fairfax routed the main Royalist army of King Charles I near Naseby, Northamptonshire. The defeat destroyed the king's best infantry and artillery and left his cause effectively unwinnable. Charles never again fielded an army capable of challenging Parliament directly.
