1635Treaty of Prague signedSaxony and the Emperor make peace within the Thirty Years' WarHoly Roman Emperor Ferdinand II and Elector John George I of Saxony signed the Treaty of Prague on 30 May 1635, suspending the Edict of Restitution and uniting most Protestant German states with the Emperor against foreign intervention. The treaty failed to end the wider war, as France and Sweden continued fighting the Habsburgs. It marked a shift of the Thirty Years' War from a religious struggle toward a dynastic and political one.
