1629Charles I dissolves ParliamentBeginning of the Personal Rule in EnglandAfter the Commons passed the Three Resolutions condemning Arminianism and illegal taxation, Charles I had the Speaker held down in his chair to delay adjournment and then dissolved Parliament. He would not summon another Parliament for eleven years, ruling instead through royal prerogative.
