• 1465 Capture of Henry VI of England Deposed king seized and sent to the Tower of London In July 1465, the deposed King Henry VI was captured near Clitheroe in Lancashire after more than a year in hiding following the Lancastrian defeat at Hexham. He was taken south under guard and imprisoned in the Tower of London. His capture removed the last Lancastrian figurehead at large and secured Edward IV's hold on the throne for several years.
