1435 Treaty of Arras signed Burgundy abandons its English alliance for peace with France Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, made peace with King Charles VII of France at the Congress of Arras, ending the Anglo-Burgundian alliance that had underpinned English power in France since 1420. In exchange Philip received territorial and financial concessions and was absolved from doing homage to Charles for his lifetime. The treaty marked a decisive turning point against English fortunes in the Hundred Years' War.
