• 1309 Papal commission resumes hearings into the Knights Templar Investigation convened in Paris A papal commission appointed by Clement V began hearing testimony from individual Templars in Paris starting 8 August 1309, as part of the wider investigation into the order following its mass arrest in 1307. The hearings gathered evidence that would later be presented at the Council of Vienne. The Templar trial remained one of the most prominent legal proceedings of the early fourteenth century.
