1092Coup in Valencia triggers El Cid's siegeAl-Qadir assassinated, Ibn Jahhaf seizes the cityThe qadi Ibn Jahhaf led an uprising in Valencia that killed its ruler al-Qadir, a client of the Castilian warlord Rodrigo Diaz, known as El Cid, and installed a government allied with the Almoravids. El Cid responded by laying siege to the city to restore his influence over it. The siege would continue for roughly two years before Valencia fell to him in 1094.
