1015Murder of Princes Boris and GlebSons of Vladimir the Great killed in the Kievan succession warPrince Boris of Rostov was ambushed and killed on the orders of his half-brother Sviatopolk, who sought to eliminate rivals to the throne of Kiev. His brother Gleb of Murom was murdered soon after near Smolensk. Both were later canonized as the first native saints of the Russian Orthodox Church.
